Flavour

The initial flavour pleasantly combines all ingredients at once. The bombardment of flavours follows a sudden bitterness, that quickly breaks down into detectable spices, buttery pumpkin notes and finally, a sweet vanilla that lasts into the finish. A dash of milk removes the Ceylon tea bitterness and radiates a sweet creaminess that insists on being savoured throughout each and every mouthful. It's a chai with a classic autumnal pumpkin twist, but it's so delicious that it's hard not to make a second cup, immediately after finishing the first.

Final Thoughts

You know that feeling, when the days are getting shorter, darker, colder, and most probably wetter, when Halloween and Bonfire Night are just around the corner, and you snuggle further into a thick knit scarf to avoid a chill wind, dreaming of home... Then, finally stepping through the front door, to a blast of warmth that incites thoughts of a fresh cup of tea, steamy windows and the aroma of a cooking dinner. Now image the tea is chai and for dinner is roasted squash… that’s the essence Spiced Pumpkin Pie. Comforting, warming and fulfilling.

I can relate if the combination of chain cafes and general PSL hype has you feeling a little disapproving. This was me a year ago... Yet, for the fourth year running, tea lovers have hailed and rejoiced at the return of this Great Taste Award winner, because in true Bluebird fashion, the essence of homey autumn evenings is flawlessly captured in the sweet aroma, delicious flavour and autumnal colours of Spiced Pumpkin Pie. It really doesn't take more than a few sips to completely understand what the fuss is about!
