A curated edit of the eco-friendly, sustainable, ethical and/or vegan items and brands I’m loving right now!
Vegan | Non-GMO
I have a massive crush on GARU food powder. It's tasty and nutritional. Win! Not sure what a food powder is, stay tuned for my post to read me gushing all about it (hint: it's not a protein powder).
Nagi Energy Bars
Vegan | Organic | Raw | Non-GMO
If you're an "always hungry" kind of person, you're probably super prepared when it comes to planning ahead for food.
Snack in your bag... Check.
Snack in your desk draw... Check.
Snacks in the bathroom... Ew Gross!
I can't back you up here... But I can relate on so many levels! I'm always hungry hence, I am always prepared with some kind of snack, this month its been Nagi Bars! Since the company is founded by a health and fitness expert, Justyna Kozlowska, I feel confident that what I'm consuming is good for me. And obviously, they taste great!
There are few drinks I love more than tea. Similar to many industries though, it can often be unsustainable. The farmer and workers can suffer poor pay, while sustainable farming is pushed aside to feed demand pressures by large-scale buyers. Tea with Friends cuts out the "middleman", buying directly from small, independent tea farmers for fairer prices. Mmmmm... I love the smell of sustainable oolong in the morning!
Sustainable | Cruelty-Free | Eco-Friendly
Hitting home cleaning with the sustainability wand has been hard. In fact, it takes a certain kind of magic to find cleaning products that do the job AND are significantly kinder the environment. The Seventh Generation detergent is life changing item. Some of the green goodies this awesome product has to boast about are:
- 0% synthetic fragrances, dyes and brighteners
- 100% essential oil and botanical extract scent
- USDA certified 96% bio-based
- Can be used with hot and cold water
- Not tested on animals
- Outer shell can be recycled with paper or compost
- Inner shell can be recycled with soft plastics
Sustainable Consumer | Eco-Friendly
I am totally in love with our new, not-new, lamp! Call me a hipster, but I've been lusting after one of these tripod lamps for forever. Since moving to Vancouver, I've tried super hard to be a conscious consumer, buying as little brand new items as possible. I feel super lucky that someone in our building was selling this so that I could snap it up! I'd love to hear about your thrifting stories!
Vegan | Sustainable | Ethical Ok, I'm still in a bind over what is better... buy hard copy books or downloading them to an e-reader. But, as this is an all vegan cookbook, I figured it kinda falls under ethical and sustainable living.. right? Anyway, this was gifted to be my a very dear friend and lately, I've been really digging in and exploring the recipes. Like this Mango, Quinoa and Black Bean Salad.
Sustainable | Ethical
Whilst the bristles of Humble Brush is made from non-biodegradable materials, overall it is a more sustainable and ethical alternative when compared to a traditional store-bought toothbrush. The packaging is made from recycled bio-degradable materials, this includes the inner packaging too! The bamboo handle is sustainably grown and a portion of profit helps provide oral health care for those in underdeveloped and deprived areas of the world.
